Nigh ("we," "our," or "the app") is a GPS-based departure time calculator for iOS. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Location Data: Nigh accesses your device's GPS location to calculate travel times between your current location, home, and event destinations. Location data is processed on-device. When a Live Activity is running, your device's approximate location may be used to compute travel time estimates via Apple's MapKit API.
Calendar Data: If you grant permission, Nigh can read your iOS calendar to import events. Calendar data is processed on-device and is not transmitted to our servers.
Events & Profile Data: Events you create, your home address, and get-ready time preferences are stored on-device using Apple's SwiftData framework. If you enable iCloud, this data syncs across your devices via Apple's CloudKit infrastructure.
Departure Records: Nigh stores anonymized departure timing data (on-time, late, early) on-device for your personal metrics. This data is not shared with third parties.
Subscription Data: Subscription status is managed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We do not collect or store payment information.
Live Activity Push Data: When a Live Activity is active, the app transmits the following data to our server (a Cloudflare Worker) to enable real-time push updates to your lock screen: Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) device token, event title, event timing data (start time, departure times), travel time estimates, and approximate destination/home coordinates. This data is stored temporarily (up to 24 hours) and automatically deleted when the Live Activity ends or expires. We do not use this data for any purpose other than delivering Live Activity updates.
The Free and Plus tiers of Nigh may display promotional banners encouraging users to upgrade their subscription. These banners are served locally by the app and do not involve third-party advertising networks, tracking, or data collection. Premium subscribers see no advertisements. In a future update, we may integrate a third-party advertising SDK for the Free and Plus tiers; this privacy policy will be updated accordingly before that change takes effect.
Data processing occurs on your device for the purpose of calculating departure times, displaying Live Activities, sending departure notifications, and showing your on-time metrics. The only data that leaves your device is: (a) Live Activity session data sent to our Cloudflare Worker for push updates, (b) data synced via Apple's CloudKit if iCloud is enabled, and (c) travel time requests to Apple's MapKit API.
All app data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. If iCloud sync is enabled, data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple's CloudKit infrastructure.
Live Activity push data is stored on a Cloudflare Worker with a 24-hour time-to-live (TTL). Data is encrypted in transit via HTTPS. The Worker does not log or retain data beyond the active session.
Apple MapKit: We use Apple's MapKit to calculate travel time estimates. Map requests are handled by Apple's servers and are subject to Apple's Privacy Policy.
Apple StoreKit: Subscription purchases are processed by Apple. Payment data is handled entirely by Apple and is subject to Apple's privacy practices.
Apple CloudKit: If you enable iCloud sync, your data is stored in your private iCloud container. We cannot access your iCloud data.
Cloudflare Workers: We use Cloudflare Workers to deliver real-time Live Activity push updates via Apple's APNs. Session data is stored temporarily in Cloudflare's KV storage with automatic expiration. Cloudflare's infrastructure is subject to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
Nigh is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
You can delete all app data at any time by deleting the Nigh app from your device. Live Activity session data on our server expires automatically within 24 hours. If iCloud sync is enabled, you can remove synced data through Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage Storage.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
